Faculty/Staff Relations
The campus minister's flock extends beyond the students to the faculty and staff as well. It is important that the minister nurtures relationships with them, catholic and non-catholic alike. The dynamics are different depending on whether the minister is an employee of the college or university, or a diocesan employee working on campus in cooperation with the institution.
Harnessing the resources of the catholic faculty and staff is important. Even simple programs like a luncheon or dinner for catholic faculty, staff and students can go a long way. It will help students in strengthening their own identity, and perhaps gives faculty and staff a new perspective on their role - that their faith IS a part of who they are no matter what their occupation.
Faculty and staff could play a role in campus liturgies and other programs as well. An excellent way to get them involved is to develop a Catholic Campus Ministry advisory board made up of catholic faculty, staff and even alumni. Remember the recruiting techniques - the best way to get faculty and staff involved is to have other faculty and staff recruit them!
