Adult Recruitment
* Volunteer is a bad word! You are not asking adults to coach little league, sell Christmas trees or work in a food stand...(all ok things...), you are asking them to live out their responsibility as members of the faith community! You are asking them to answer Jesus' call to pass the faith to the next generation!
* The MOST effective way to recruit adults for long term commitments (1 year or more) is with a one-on-one, face-to-face meeting in their home with a written job description, by someone who they know and respect.
* The MOST effective way to recruit adults for short term commitments (activity to activity) is by providing them with several options that they may choose from so they may find and activity or program that A) fits their schedule; and B) is something they have an interest, talent or strength in.
* When you have teams, leaders and/or committees in place, always, always, always be thinking of who will be the next people to fill those roles.
* Adults working in ministry need support, affirmation and plenty of thank-you's, pats on the back and atta-boys. Make sure that someone is giving them!
